Real Experience Teaching Real Skills
We started zelmoryquant in 2019 after seeing too many analysts struggle with valuation fundamentals. Our approach focuses on hands-on practice with actual case studies — not theoretical exercises that don't translate to the workplace.
Every instructor here has spent years working in investment banking, corporate finance, or equity research. We know what skills actually matter because we've used them ourselves.
Meet the People Behind zelmoryquant
Small team, deep expertise. We've all been where you are — learning these skills under pressure.
Marcus Chen
Marcus spent eight years at Deutsche Bank working on M&A transactions before moving to equity research at Macquarie. He's the guy who can explain why your DCF terminal value assumptions might be off by looking at your model for thirty seconds. His favourite teaching moment? Watching students finally understand why enterprise value calculations actually make sense.
David Kowalski
David's background is in corporate development at BHP and Rio Tinto, where he evaluated potential acquisitions worth billions. He joined us because he got tired of training new analysts who couldn't build proper comparable company analyses. His courses focus on the practical shortcuts and quality checks that separate competent analysts from excellent ones.
Why We Do This Work
Practice Over Theory
We believe you learn valuation by doing valuation. Our courses use real company data and actual deal scenarios. You'll work through the same challenges we faced when these skills were new to us too.
Honest About Limitations
Valuation isn't magic — it's informed estimation with a healthy dose of judgment. We teach you to be skeptical of your own work and to communicate uncertainty clearly. That's what good analysts actually do.
Long-term Relationships
Learning doesn't stop when the course ends. We stay in touch with our students and continue answering questions months later. Many of our best referrals come from people we taught years ago.
How We Got Here
Started as weekend workshops, grew into something bigger
Weekend Workshops
Marcus started running informal valuation workshops for junior analysts at his firm. Word spread quickly — people were hungry for practical training that actually helped with their day jobs.
Going Independent
Demand grew beyond what weekend sessions could handle. We incorporated zelmoryquant and moved to our Adelaide location. David joined after helping design our first structured curriculum.
Expanding Focus
Added advanced courses covering sector-specific valuation challenges and complex deal structures. Our students were ready for more sophisticated material, so we built it for them.
What's Next
We're developing new courses for 2026 that focus on ESG integration in valuations and technology sector analysis. Always building based on what our students actually need in their work.
